Sneak Preview of the new Commodore Amiga Mini at http://www.commodore-amiga.org with a press release expected to be issued by C=USA sometime next week on details and shipping date.

No, this is not the big announcement.

I like it... Intel powered?

From the picture, it really does look very compact....

Nice. I have seen those Streacom cases before. Kind of reminds me of a taller 1st gen Mac Mini.

It's nice of a case that should sell well. Can't wait for the first person to upload a YouTube video of AROS running on it. That should bring back the memories.

I hate to be the killjoy, but did someone already verify that these pictures are not showing a Fujitsu assembly line located in Germany?

I'm all eager to get excited about this totally innovative design and naming idea, I just want to be on the safe side.

That incident happened a while ago. And yes it eventually came out that they were doctored images from that plant. But do we really need to go back down that path?

The case can be picked up for about £70 (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_0984.html) so I am really interested to see just how much these machines will actually cost.

I tried to be short and to the point, apparently that was not a good idea Here's the long version:

There's a set of photoshoped pictures showing "Amiga" desktop cases on commodore.net. There's a second set of pictures showing completely different "Amiga" desktop cases on commodoreusa.net. There's a third set of photoshoped pictures of completely different "Amiga" desktop cases on commodore-amiga.org.

Now Dammy (who has a history of just posting whatever crap Barry doesn't want to be associated with on Barry's behalf) posts a fourth set of photoshoped pictures showing another, completely different "Amiga" desktop case.

About two thirds of the pictures CUSA releases are either a complete lie, stolen, or don't have anything to do with reality. Unless we see real product, there's absolutely no reason to believe that the pictures Dammy just posted mean anything.

Or, to make it short: Did someone already verify that these pictures are not showing a Fujitsu assembly line located in Germany?

Looks like a 'two a penny' small CD Hi-System case. Does it run AmigaOS? Does it run any Classic programs? Are you wasting everyone's time again trolling about generic PeeCee rubbish with the Amiga brand prostituted across the front? Yes I think so! Why not stick an Amiga sticker on a toaster and try and flog that too!!?

@Thread

What is all this conceptual design dross that CUSA are spitting out too;

CUSA Amiga Cases

Why not just dig up Jay Miner's grave while they're at it?

The desktops I can't quite pindown. However the two towers look like Lian Li cases. Specifically the little one looks like the PC-B25F and the big one looks like a mix of the small one and a ARMORSUIT PC-P50WB

edit===
Ok it would appear that, looking at the pics, both are the same B25F case but the larger one has just been stretched out. Still can't work them desktops out though my guess is they would be the Karma cases flipped and chopped.

Suppose the fun is over and I am bored to tears of trying to work them designs out. Apparently they are in talks with somone over new cases.

it was obviously meant as a quick rough draft and such. But it's strange that leo mentioned that he thought Lian Li cases were generic but he used a Lian Li case as the basis of his designs.

Anyway back on topic time.

I would still like to know what prices these things will come in at. Given the cases can be picked up cheaply.

COS-V comes with licensed WB/Kickstart, and C64 kickstart plus games. So yes, it will run your Amiga 3.x games and earlier.

C64 Kickstarts? Don't you mean ROM's? In any case I wasn't aware that Vice for Linux was coming with the ROM's these days. Normally you have to install those yourself, I only installed the thing a few weeks ago and the ROM's were still not in the package, so are you using the windows version or C64 Forever?

Believe the C64 had a kickstart that needs to be present in the emulator for it to run games (ROMS). Might be wrong, never owned a C64 myself. COS-V for C=USA customers will have both (VICE and a version of UAE, not sure which one) emulators installed with games. So far the open Beta releases lack those software packages for obvious reasons.

But we are getting off topic since we are talking about the sneak peek of the new Commodore Amiga Mini.

Well just so you know, for future reference because you may need this over on c-a.org, there are 4 system roms that are needed for vice to work.

1541
basic
chargen
kernal

(that's the disk drive, the Basic language, the Character Set and the main system "Kernal")

So once again, just to bring it on topic, it looks nice and all but I will still want to know the price and specs.

Kickstart is name for Amiga specific bootstarap that used to be in ROM and is now file. For C64 is called simply the ROM dump.

Anyway, only those who buy CUSA machine and get COS that way will get the ROM files. That is to my understanding exact info.

Please let us know what is happening with Community Project and yes, maybe a news that CUSA is going to make Workbench 5.0 should be removed. Please bring things up to date. Replacing it with info on COS would be far better.

In my opinion, Its good to see all 3 cases are avail separately, now we just need Commodore, Amiga and checkmark stickers and everyone can have Commodore Amiga by CUSA definition by hardware side. Plus we need these AmiKit flash drive and OS 3.9 CD, AROS and a good Linux and voila ... Maybe some nice "how to do it" manual should be avail on community websites. Money used for "added value" by CUSA can be used for additional x86 or components upgrade, just like the way why prefer AMD based system: for price difference overall better performing video / hard drive system can be built.

And yes, era of CUSA exploit of Amiga finally arrives. Its good those Intel based systems are AROS ready, but these has everything to do with AROS team efforts and nothing to do with CUSA. This should change if you are to promote as AROS ready systems.

August 31,2010 press release - coming true or untrue?

Quote:
Quote:
In response to an overwhelming demand from Amiga users worldwide, Commodore USA’s CTO Leo Nigro announced today that their new Amiga branded computers will be fully AROS compatible, and that they will be supporting the AROS open source community in every way possible. Mr. Nigro states “With the monumental strides that AROS has recently achieved, we realize the importance of accelerating this progress with funding that will enable this project to rapidly move forward and take it’s rightful place at the forefront of desktop operating systems

And why is http://www.logiprise.com/ forwarding to CUSA website?

I stand corrected. The games were also called ROMs since they resided in a ROM cartridge?

As for the community project, I don't believe a community created poll showing 500 votes for a given specific project has been accomplished. But that's really off topic of this thread and there is a active thread dedicated to it in this subboard already.
